Resting at Home NGO is a non-profit organization (NGO) dedicated to providing humanitarian aid for the repatriation of the bodies of individuals deceased abroad. Our objective is to help your loved one rest at home as soon as possible.
Before starting the application, it is important that you understand and accept certain general conditions for our assistance:
The applicant must be a relative of the deceased within the first or second degree of consanguinity. (Examples: father, mother, son/daughter, brother/sister, grandfather/grandmother, grandson/granddaughter)
This is humanitarian aid subject to certain criteria. We can only assist in cases that meet specific parameters, which we will verify from the beginning and at any point during the process.
We ask that all information provided be truthful and unaltered. The accuracy of the data is essential; any false or falsified information could result in the cancellation of the humanitarian aid.
We understand how difficult this situation is and will act with the greatest empathy possible. At the same time, we require you to maintain respectful conduct throughout the entire process. Any disrespectful treatment toward our team or any of the providers coordinating the repatriation will require us to terminate the application for humanitarian aid.
Resting at Home NGO informs its beneficiaries, allies, and the general public that the humanitarian services offered by the organization do not include cosmetic post-mortem procedures, such as:
Post-mortem makeup
Facial or bodily reconstruction
Cosmetic embalming
Visual preparation for a viewing or wake
Therefore, any additional services of a cosmetic nature must be managed directly by the family with external providers.
By accepting our assistance, you acknowledge and accept this condition as part of the terms of humanitarian care.
If you agree to these initial conditions, we will proceed with a few questions to verify if your case meets the eligibility requirements for humanitarian aid. This will allow us to avoid rejections at a later stage and spare you additional hardship.
Eligibility Requirements
The deceased must not have been a resident of the United States.
The deceased must not have been in the country of death for more than 30 days from their date of entry.
Resting at Home NGO reserves the right to request documentation proving the date of entry and to reject applications that do not meet this requirement.
The purpose of the trip must not have been tourism, studies, or medical treatment.
Aid is contingent upon the death having occurred within the last 24 hours, and the body must not be at a funeral home, nor have any funeral services scheduled; otherwise, the service will not be provided. The body must currently be at a hospital or morgue (not a funeral home).
The applicant must not have received any financial aid or raised funds through other means for the repatriation of the body.
You accept that humanitarian aid from Resting at Home NGO only includes the retrieval, transportation, and preparation of the body (it does not include: viewings, ceremonies or funeral rites, floral arrangements, body makeup, or general transportation services, airfare, hotels, per diems, food, or travel for relatives to the country of death).
You accept that the delivery of the body will be made only at El Dorado Airport in Bogotá D.C., Colombia. (The body will arrive exclusively in Bogotá, not other cities). Once the body arrives at the Bogotá airport, all processes for the final destination within Colombia are the responsibility of the deceased’s family.
You accept that under no circumstances will we provide cash; everything will be managed through our providers, and the family will not receive any direct financial assistance.
Given that this is a donation provided at no cost to you, the family, you accept that there will be no grounds for lawsuits of any kind against Resting at Home NGO or the provider coordinating the repatriation. This does not mean we will not make our best effort to ensure the process flows normally. This process must be handled in accordance with the health regulations of each country, which we are obligated to follow. It is also important to remember that situations beyond our control, which are common in body repatriations, may arise; we will manage these situations to the best of our ability.
These conditions are mandatory. If any are not met, we unfortunately cannot proceed with the application for aid. Ensuring compliance from the beginning helps us prevent denials later and minimize hardship for you during this difficult time.
Clause on Exclusivity of Donations and Reimbursement for Non-Compliance
The beneficiary of the donation granted by Resting at Home NGO, within the framework of the body repatriation service, declares under oath that they have not received or managed financial contributions from any other organization, entity, or natural person for the same purpose of covering the repatriation costs of the deceased’s body.
If it is proven that the beneficiary has received additional resources for the same purpose, Resting at Home NGO reserves the right to take appropriate legal action for the full reimbursement of the amount paid for the repatriation service.
Furthermore, the beneficiary agrees to sign a promissory note as a guarantee of compliance with this clause. In case of non-compliance, we will proceed with the negotiation and recovery of the amount through legal and collection agencies, in accordance with current legislation.
INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Resting at Home ONG, its subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, officers, directors, agents, contractors, licensors, service providers, subcontractors, suppliers, interns and employees, from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, made by any third-party due to or arising out of your breach of these Terms of Service or the documents they incorporate by reference, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third-party.
